Maryhurst relies on the generosity of various foundations, corporations and individuals in our community to help us meet our children’s needs. Each year, we must raise close to $2 million in private funds to ensure our girls and boys are getting the very best of care. We often are asked about our most pressing needs, which are outlined below:

Therapeutic and Medical Services
Your gift helps us provide the vital one-on-one therapy and basic medical services our children so desperately need. Most of our children come from backgrounds of severe abuse and neglect which has left them with not only physical scars, but emotional and psychological ones as well. Our goal is to treat their minds and bodies as we prepare them to return to a healthy family environment.

Health and Wellness Activities
Thanks to generous donors in years past, Maryhurst opened an Activities Center in 2007 that provides the children with a wonderful facility in which to play, exercise and learn various skills such as cooking, sewing, etc. Ongoing donations are needed to help us provide the many activities, including art and music classes, healthy lifestyle programs, and other initiatives that not only provide positive outlets for our children, but prepare the teens for independent living once they turn 18 and leave our care.

Buildings and Grounds
Maryhurst’s main campus was built in the early 1970s and serves as home and school to 68 teenage girls every day. Needless to say, we always have a list of projects that need to be completed in the multiple buildings on campus -- from painting and various repairs to new furniture, appliances or landscaping. Such projects are about much more than maintenance; for many, this is the only home they have, and it must be welcoming at all times.
