Maryhurst Meet & Greet
Tour Maryhurst and find out how you can learn more about what we do and how you can help! Meet and Greets are held one Wednesday of each month from Noon-1pm. Current dates: 6/18, 7/16, 8/20, 9/17, 10/15, and 11/12.
Adopt a Cottage
Perfect for volunteer groups! Work directly with our campus cottages! Your group adopts a cottage on our main campus and plans a weekly, monthly, or quarterly activity for a cottage on our main campus (12-15 girls) such as; game nights, arts & crafts, fitness, or come up with your own creative ideas… This volunteer opportunity should be ongoing. A minimum of 4 volunteers required for volunteer group. Must be at least 20 years old and no longer in school to volunteer.
Birthdays and Graduations
Pick a month and provide a special message for a girl’s birthday that month. We will provide you with a list of kid’s names for that month who are celebrating a birthday agency wide. Donate a graduation card and/or gift to our girls graduating from high school or middle school. We graduate eligible students during all semesters.
Plan A Party
Perfect for volunteer groups Plan and host a party for 8-15 girls! A great incentive for our children are volunteer parties such as; movie nights, arts & crafts and holiday parties.
Help Our Foster Care Program
Place a sign in your yard or business to help promote our foster care program. Or, invite a representative from our foster care program to speak to your church or civic group about opportunities for fostering or adopting children. Help On Special Holidays
Perfect for any group or individual at any age. Bring holiday cheer to the children at Maryhurst by donating personalized Valentine’s Day card, donating Easter baskets and candy, purchasing pumpkins and candy for Halloween, or participating in our Holiday gift drive in December.
Higher Education Sponsor
Maryhurst has an Independent Living program for our children ages 16 and up to provide them with assistance and support as they move forward. We are looking for sponsors for our kids in this program, who are attending a college or vocational school or program, for the purpose of being a support, resource and advocate for them. It would be beneficial to our children to work with a volunteer who has graduated from college or a vocational program. Must be at least 20 years old and completed college or is familiar with the college experience.
Mentoring in Our Independent Living Program
We are in need of volunteers who are able to make a weekly, year-long commitment to mentor children in our Independent Living Program. Children are age 16 and older and all volunteers must be 21 years or older to become a mentor. Requires completing an application, attending training and verification of car insurance. Community Home/Cottage Volunteers
Volunteer to play games, plan an arts and crafts project or come up with your own creative ideas! Work with our girls weekly or monthly at one of our community homes or cottages (must be at least 20 years old to volunteer). Treasure Home is located in Fern Creek and our Rosehaven home is located in the Clifton Neighborhood. Sophie’s and Rose’s cottages are Maryhurst’s Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities located on the Brooklawn campus (2125 Goldsmith Lane 40218).
Spruce up Maryhurst
Help us brighten our campus and our children through painting, landscaping and other facility projects throughout the year. There is a minimum of five people per group of volunteers.
Special Opportunity: Girl Scout Leader @ Treasure Home
We are looking for a minimum of two dedicated volunteers to lead some of our girls in a Treasure Home Girl Scout Troop. A minimum of monthly meetings required. Background checks through the Girl Scouts may be required at the cost of the volunteer.
Foxhollow Farm Fall Festival
On Saturday October 11, 2014 Foxhollow Farm will host their 7th Annual Fall Festival, a fun-filled celebration of autumn that has become a favorite for families throughout the Kentuckiana area. The 2014 Fall Festival includes a variety of entertainment and culinary delights for the whole family to enjoy. Proceeds from the festival benefit Maryhurst. We need volunteers to help with games and activities. Great for high school students looking to fulfill community service hours.
