Birthdays and Graduations

This opportunity is perfect for any group or individual at any age. Pick a month and provide a special message for a girl’s birthday that month.  We will provide you with a list of kid’s names for that month who are celebrating a birthday agency wide.  Donate a graduation card and/or gift to our girls graduating from high school or middle school.  We graduate eligible students during all semesters.

Every 1 Reads

Participate in Every 1 Reads at Maryhurst.  Spend 30 minutes reading with one of children here at Maryhurst. This volunteer opportunity is offered through JCPS but can be done on our Maryhurst campus during the school year.  You must be at least 20 years old and no longer in high school to volunteer.

Plan A Holiday Event

This opportunity is perfect for volunteer groups.  Plan a Valentine’s Day Party, Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Party, Spring Dance or Prom, or Fourth of July party for our kids.  This would be a campus-wide event (60-65 girls).  You must be at least 20 years old and no longer in school to volunteer.

Help Our Foster Care Program

Place a sign in your yard or business to help promote our foster care program. Or, invite a representative from our foster care program to speak to your church or civic group about opportunities for fostering or adopting children. Please contact Paige McGuire at 502.499.1570 or pmcguire@maryhurst.org if you are interested.

Help On Special Holidays

Perfect for any group or individual at any age.  Bring holiday cheer to the children at Maryhurst by donating personalized Valentine’s Day card, donating Easter baskets and candy, purchasing pumpkins and candy for Halloween, or participating in our Holiday gift drive in December.

Transitional Living/Pre-Independent Living Volunteer

Maryhurst has a Pre-Independent Living program in the Clifton neighborhood for our children ages 16 and up to provide them with assistance and support as they move forward and transition into adulthood.  We are looking for volunteers to help our IL staff with life skills programming, job preparedness and support, and for those who are attending a college or vocational school, provide support, resources and advocacy. You must be 21 years old to volunteer.

Mentoring at Maryhurst

Build a lasting relationship with a child in need of love and support. We are looking for volunteers who are able to make a weekly, year-long commitment to be mentors to children. You must be 21 years old or older to be a mentor. Car insurance verification required. Completions of training and successful application process required.

Mingle for a Cause

Help spread the word about the wonderful work Maryhurst does in the community. Host a party in your home, while inviting your friends and family to learn more about our mission and the girls in our care.  A Maryhurst representative will be present to talk with you and your guests and answer any questions.

Foxhollow Farm Fall Festival

In October, 2015 Foxhollow Farm will host their 8th Annual Fall Festival, a fun-filled celebration of autumn that has become a favorite for families throughout the Kentuckiana area. The 2015 Fall Festival includes a variety of entertainment and culinary delights for the whole family to enjoy.  Proceeds from the festival benefit Maryhurst. We need volunteers to help with games and activities. Great for high school students looking to fulfill community service hours.

Please contact Liz Bayer at liz.bayer@maryhurst.org for more information and any of the opportunities listed above. Many of Maryhurst’s volunteer opportunities require successful completion of an application and three background screens.  Some will also require training with the Volunteer Coordinator. You must be at least 20 years old and no longer in high school to work directly with the children at Maryhurst.
