Children’s Advocacy Day 2020

Maryhurst showed out in full support in Frankfort for Children’s Advocacy Day. We attended rallies, spoke to lawmakers, and even got recognized on the senate floor.

It was a full day for the team at Maryhurst on January 23 – otherwise known as Children’s Advocacy Day at the Capitol! Here’s how organizers Kentucky Youth Advocates describe it:

Children’s Advocacy Day at the Capitol began in 2004 as an effort to unite advocates from across the state to raise their voices on behalf of children’s safety, health, education, and economic well-being. Hundreds of advocates from counties across Kentucky now gather at the Capitol in Frankfort every year to rally on behalf of children and to promote priorities on the Blueprint for Kentucky’s Children agenda.

We had the special opportunity to bring a few children from our program to the capitol to attend the rallies and speak with lawmakers themselves about issues that matter to them.

To top it off, our CEO Judy Lambeth was honored with a resolution on the Senate floor in recognition of her many years of service to children in the state. You can view video of that moment here.

Congratulations to Kentucky Youth Advocates and all the organizations that made the day a success!
