Young people arrive at Maryhurst during a difficult time in their lives. Too often, they've been made to feel like they aren't creative - that they don't have value, or that they shouldn't like themselves.
A big part of the work we do with kids is to undo the harms of trauma and practice self-love, creative expression, and opportunities to have fun with peers.
That's why we love the work of our Support Team, a group of experts in nontraditional therapies and enrichment activities for the kids living in our residential programs. One recent activity involved textile and clothing crafting. The kids worked for weeks making modifications to garments and preparing to model them for their Maryhurst peers and employee teams.
