Healthy Workplace Award Winners

Maryhurst has received a Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award from Kentucky Psychological Foundation (KPF) for our work to promote mental health & wellbeing in the workplace.

According to KPF, a “psychologically healthy” workplace encourages employee involvement, emphasizes health and safety, seeks to stimulate the growth and development of employees, helps employees balance work and life, and formally recognizes employee contributions.

Maryhurst was recognized because of our organizational culture that ties how employees are treated to our core values: the individual worth of every person, acting with compassion and mercy, communicating to resolve conflicts and create harmony, and being passionate about providing care for kids and families.

“Maryhurst employees truly care for one another and recognize the dignity in each other,” says Courtney Keim, Ph.D., Chairperson for the awards committee. “Employees described a family-like atmosphere where employees feel tied to the organization’s mission and purpose. Many staff members who we interviewed said that they felt like they are making a real difference in their clients’ lives.”

While providing care to our clients can be challenging, we do our best to be intentional about offering ways to address and work through stressors such as vicarious trauma. KPF recognized that our employees feel appreciated for the work they do and are included in decision making. Employees at Maryhurst are given support to grow and develop in their careers and balance the demands that can occur between work and life obligations.
