Maryhurst awarded Metro Louisville grant to support mental health program

Maryhurst was awarded $19,000 as an External Agency Fund grant from the Louisville Metro Government's Office for Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods (OSHN).

The grant is to strengthen Maryhurst’s Renewal partnership with Goodwill Industries of Kentucky's program, The Spot.

Goodwill Industries of Kentucky and KentuckianaWorks partnered to establish a new resource for Louisville youths in the form of a young adult opportunity campus.

The campus, dubbed “The Spot” is located at 800 West Chestnut Street on the campus of Jefferson Community and Technical College.  It welcomes individuals ages 16-24 in need of career and educational assistance. The campus’ goal is to help young adults overcome barriers created by criminal backgrounds, abuse and more, and put them on a quality career path.

Maryhurst joined the partnership with Goodwill last year to provide mental health support at The Spot. In the time since, our partnership has provided trauma-informed training to Goodwill staff and continues to provide training and other mental health support services to program participants. Maryhurst staff helps break down any barriers to participants who want to pursue additional mental health services that can complement the career services in which the Spot specializes.

Thanks to the OSHN for strengthening services to young adults by supporting this partnership!
