Maryhurst Renewal, Maryhurst's community-based mental health services program, has long supported the healing and social advocacy of the young people in our programs.
Through our partnership with Louisville Metro's Office of Violence Prevention, our Community Support Associates recently had the opportunity to help young artists channel their histories with trauma into purpose-filled pieces of art. Our CSAs met with the young artists and helped them to process difficult emotions, create their artist statements, and prepare for the exhibition.
The final event, titled Mind Body Soul brought together community members, art lovers, artists, nonprofit supporters, public officials, and more at the Speed Art Museum. It was a powerful evening that held so much promise for our efforts to reduce the violence impacting our community.
